This year the Olympic National Forest is providing the 2006 Christmas tree that will stand in front of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C. during the holidays. Hi. I?m Claire Turner with 4-H Network News ? a youth run media club based in Port Hadlock, WA. The 65 foot Pacific Silver fir will be decorated with 10,000 LED lights and over 3,000 ornaments handmade by Washington youth. On December 6th, The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives will light the 45 ?year-old tree during a ceremony viewed on C-Span nationwide. The biggest challenge organizing the evergreen state?s national gift has been financial.
