Black Entertainment Black News Urban News Hip Hop News - EURWEB.com:

"Thursday, October 6, De La Soul, Slum Village and Fishbone, along with some of today’s hottest hip hop and rock artists, will perform for free in New York City’s Central Park in a rally to empower young adults to “Take Back TV.”

The rally is a part of a national youth outreach campaign by Current TV, a new, independent cable and satellite network which allows viewers to become creative programming partners, making it the first television network in history with programming supplied, in-part, by the viewing audience who watches it.

Launched in August 2005, Current TV aims to democratize television by inviting the viewer to influence what is seen on air, bringing more diversity of thought and truth to TV programming. The New York Times heralds Current TV as “…an attempt to add grass-roots diversity to a television universe that is ever more controlled by a few media conglomerates.” (more)
